Teacher Summer Institute: Rainforests of Latin America – Belize is your Classroom
Dates: June 22-29, 2014

The Rainforest is YOUR classroom! Shake up your professional development experience with the ultimate HANDS-ON learning experience in the rainforests of BELIZE! The University of Florida Center for Latin American Studies and the Belize Foundation for Research and Environmental Education in the rainforest of Belize (BFREE) are partnering to offer this exciting field course. The goal of this institute is to guide teachers through a discovery of the ecosystems of Belize and how this content can be integrated across the curriculum. Content will address the rainforests of Latin America, making connections between the broad themes of Belizean ecosystems and specific topics such as plant, animal and human interaction within the systems. Educators of all disciplines and grade levels and pre-service teachers are welcome to apply.
To apply: Electronic Application is available on the Teacher Summer Institute webpage and is due March 17, 2014 sent to outreach@latam.ufl.edu.
*Includes workshops, most meals, lodging and in-country transport. *Does not include international airfare or personal expenses. *Scholarship stipends in the amount of $600 are available. Stipend seekers should apply by December 15th*
