About Me:
Joel Duffin, PhD is the CEO of Open Tapestry, an online learning company whose mission is to help organizations improve engagement, effectiveness, and efficiency. The Open Tapestry platform helps organizations adopt, adapt, and assess learning content and tools from the open web. Joel is a veteran in the software industry who has focused for the past decade on tools for interactive online learning. While completing a doctorate in Instructional Technology he conducted research on instructional design theory, instructional simulations, intelligent tutoring systems, interactive online mathematics, reuse and adaptation of online content, instructional sequencing, authoring tools, automated feedback, and recommender systems. With undergraduate degrees in Math and Physics, and 6 children, Joel has a strong interest in helping youth prepare for careers in Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering. He has led, contributed, and consulted on large curriculum and software development projects involving multi-disciplinary teams.
