Education Connections: Julene Reed is an educator with twenty–two years of experience as a classroom teacher, technology integration specialist, and administrator. Julene is currently the Director of Academic Technology for St. George's Independent School in Memphis, TN. She is also an Apple Distinguished Educator, Former ADE Board member, Discovery Education STAR Educator and Leadership Council member, Google Certified Teacher, EdTech Team Member, Educational Collaborator, CUE Lead Learner, and former Co–Director of iSummit, Coalition of Lighthouse Schools. Global Connections: Julene has traveled globally through her work with Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, Polar Bears International, and Apple education. As the Director of PBI’s Tundra Connections, she travels to Churchill, Canada annually to observe polar bears in the wild and conduct live educational videoconferences and webcasts with scientists. Julene also works with Suumu Secondary School and Roots & Shoots in Tanzania. Her passion to make a difference in the world through education and technology are clearly evident in her work. Julene is a member of the Advisory Councils of both Roots & Shoots and Polar Bears International. She is the director of the Tundra Connections program with Polar Bears International. Julene has participated in The Education Project in Bahrain, and she has served as the International Chair of the Global Education Conference Advisory Board. Julene has developed curricular content focused on global education for Apple Education and iTunesU.
