About Me:

I am started as biochemist and found myself drawn to science education. I have worked over the years as a research scientist (University of California, Santa Barbara and Brandeis University) STEM dean (Massachusetts Bay Community College), science educator, curriculum developer, financial planner, community activist, and radio commentator. I served as co-host and science consultant for the "Essential Science for Teachers: Life Sciences," (2004) video series (eight one-hour sessions) with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics for broadcast on the Annenberg/CPB Channel. URL: http://www.learner.org/channel/courses/essential/life/ While at Lesley University, Cambridge MA, I was co-PI and later program director for the Lesley-TERC project (funded by NSF and US. Dept. of Education) which created 'de novo,' a fully online Science in Education masters’ degree program for K-8 science educators. I am active in several local, regional, and national science advisory boards regional, and national science advisory boards whose primary goal is to increase number of students (especially those from unrepresented groups) pursuing STEM careers.
