About Me:
I am an artist, architect and academic, passionately active in greening public imagination. I combine an architectural practice with research in visual media, writing and speaking about the importance of design education for the public. I deliver STEAM workshops with diverse organizations envisioning projects that transform learning experiences. Co-founder of STUDIO 1032 with partner Mark Keane, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Our architectural practice contributes to sustainable initiatives along the Milwaukee- Chicago corridor including the City of Chicago Green Roof Website, Milwaukee’s North East Side Plan, Milwaukee River Greenway, and Milwaukee Ecological Entryway. I write, lecture and publish on the changing culture of design education and need to nurture innovation and creativity. Professor of Architecture and Environmental Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago I led development of the new 21st century trans disciplinary Masters of Architecture while publishing ARCHITECTURE an INTERACTIVE INTRODUCTION, The Aesthetics of Sustainability, Eco literacy: Greening Public Imagination and The Culture of Design Education. During this time I co-created the award winning international informal STEAM learning network, NEXT.cc that is being accessed in over 100 countries. I am a member of the DESIGNed Design Standards Team, National Project for Public Space Advisory Council, Metropolitan Place Making Advisory Board, and Fulbright International. These creative endeavors are recognized by the American Planning Association WI Chapter, Art Institute of Chicago, American Institute of Architects, American Architectural Foundation, Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, Chicago Burnham One Hundred, Graham Foundation, National Endowment of the Arts, PBS Chicago, United States Green Building Council and Union of International Architects.
