About Me:
As a teacher I have been involved in different education levels, environments, and situations. My experience ranges mostly from highschool to college, and diversifies from single individuals to thirty people classrooms. I have worked as an educator in Venezuela and the U.S. in different fields of study. Furthermore, I’m proud to say that under my tutelage my students have shown no less than satisfactory results; my AP classes in Academy of the Holy Names obtained an average of 4 in their AP exams, and my students in CDS high school received the most amounts of awards the school has gotten in the NSE. I strive to keep myself uptodate with new education methods to accommodate the everchanging classroom. Since each class comprises of different students with different levels, it is important to find different methods of teaching that can envelop the character of a student. In doing so, One can hope the student to become more active and thus confident in their ability to excel. My philosophy centers on students and their needs. Even though reusing materials is sometimes a way to escape the demand that teaching usually calls for, it is important to remember who and what we work for. Children are the future of a country, and they are also those who carry our teachings. While it is imperative to challenge students for greater results, demands to test results are real but I feel that we should also be flexible and creative. Variety is a key factor that ensures a successful class and lowers the risk of misbehavior. With this in mind, I try to remember that one should treat each student equally and not focus on those who advance faster. My role as a teacher involves students receiving knowledge they will use in their future, not knowledge that will eventually decay and falter. In addition to having a reciprocal relationship with my students, I try to always remind myself that I can also learn from my students. Teaching to me is a lifelong learning process about new experiences and methodologies. Some of these methodologies I have learned, in part, thanks my students. Teaching is meant to cater students; seeing their reaction to my classes has helped me understand my philosophy better. Who and what do I work for? This question has a clear answer for me: the student. From the moment I became a teacher, I made a commitment to be the best role model I can be. It is my goal to be prepared for the challenges of teaching in the 21st century, but through this challenge can I grow and become a better person for my student and I.
