About Me:
Dr. Yishay Mor combines a background in Computer Science and in Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) to explore the prospect of education as a design science of learning. His work focuses on the development and application of methodological tools for design research and practice in TEL. His PhD thesis "A Design Approach to Research in Technology Enhanced Mathematics Education" won the 2011 TELEARC award for PhD excellence. The methodological tools he has developed have also served as the methodological framework for three projects: Learning Patterns (Kaleidoscope), Pattern Language Network and Formative e-Assessment (JISC), and have been used to facilitate scores of workshops - bringing together researchers, educational practitioners and software developers to explore critical issues in TEL. They provide the structure for a forthcoming edited book. Dr. Mor led the “Learning Design Grid” Theme Team funded by the Stellar Network of Excellence, and recently led the “Open Learning Design Studio MOOC”. He currently leads the OU team of the Metis project. Yishay's previous research has explored methodologies for formulating and sharing design knowledge in education. He has developed and applied these methodolgies through investigations in game-based learning in mathematics education and mobile learning for development. Yishay Joined the IET in September 2011. His most recent role was at the Technologies in Education Graduate Program, at the The Department of Learning, Instruction and Teacher Education, University of Haifa, where he taught courses in mobile learning and game-based learning and co-ordinated the special masters' course "Digital Cities: Technology, Leadership, and Education". Before that, he was a researcher at the London Knowledge Lab, and before that - a software team leader at Cisco systems.
