Short Session Description (one line): This session will discuss current research on implementing virtual science laboratory in the delivery of online science courses.

This presentation will discuss the current standards of learning design and will give an overview of current practices for designing and delivering STEM Online courses and laboratory components to enhance online students learning outcomes (OSLO). Although there are many developments in this field, practical applications and Action Research to guide adoption are still missing, particularly, practices that guide the implementation and the evaluation of the effectiveness of virtual laboratory to support scientific experimentation and scientific inquiry.
The Presenter will draw from his personal background in learning design and assessment of OSLO, and from his experiences in delivering hybrid science courses using immersive virtual Chemistry Laboratories (vChemLabs) and Interactive Multimedia Simulations (IMS). We will share the preliminary results of a Doctoral Study, Investigating the Effectiveness of Online Learning in Science Courses, and research findings in relation to the adoption and implementation of online learning in STEM education. Attendees will be provided with resources on the topic covered to extend their knowledge in current development in the field.
